X-Rays

Digital x-rays have become the standard of the dental industry, and we are fully digital in our office.  A digital x-ray allows the dental professional to take an image of the tooth or teeth and put it into an imaging program. Within this imaging program, there are a number of tools that will allow the dentist to take a very close look at the teeth and surrounding structures, noting decay, abscesses or other abnormalities. As a benefit to the patient, the digital x-ray also provides nearly 80% less radiation than a standard x-ray, and the images are almost instantly able to be viewed on the screen.

Oral Cancer Screening

During an oral cancer screening exam, your hygienist and Dr. Prast will look over the inside of your mouth to check for red or white patches or mouth sores. Using gloved hands during the exam, they will feel the tissues in your mouth to check for lumps or other abnormalities. They may also examine your throat and neck for lumps. Early detection is key, so routine, regular care is highly recommended.
